I just wrapped up this illustration for the current issue of the New York Observer. It’s for an article about the Duane Reade pharmacy and convenience stores taking over New York City. There are now 257 stores, mostly all of them in New York City or its suburbs.
I thought that for Duane Reade to really take over, it would have a location in the base of the Statue of Liberty, something that would never happen.
Below is another illustration for the New York Observer I finished about a month ago. It was for their Wee Hours column in which their reporter attends celebrity parties. I worked on this piece in my two-toned portrait style and was asked to show these three celebrities mingling with each other and having some drinks.
This was a crazy one, as I ended up having about only four hours to ink it after the sketches were approved.
Both of these illustrations were a lot of fun to work on, thanks Ivy!
